Gorilla Tag is always evolving, and so are our players! We want to embrace what makes our game great while encouraging positive engagement and rewarding responsible behavior within our community. With that in mind, here’s a look at some, but not all, of the community-building initiatives coming to Gorilla Tag in 2025.
To ring in the new year, we’re welcoming back many Monkes who may have been previously banned from our game, Discord, and Reddit communities. This opportunity to return is part of our commitment to restarting new connections with a fresh perspective and encouraging communities to engage with each other more positively and constructively moving forward. Excluding those banned for serious offenses, we’ll continue to closely track re-offenses, participation in discussions, and adherence to guidelines for all returning community members.
We’re also restructuring our ban and appeal system. If Monkes were either banned for cheating, indefinitely banned or want to return to honorable status, we’re providing a pathway to make that journey easier. Check out our Discord and game support page to learn how to appeal. Dust off your headset and swing back to Gorilla Tag!
We’re excited to introduce Forest Guides, a new role coming to Discord. We're reimagining the “Stick” as a special recognition for players who embody leadership, kindness, and a commitment to making our community welcoming for all. We’re adding to our trusted group of Monkes who have “Stick” identifying those who make positive contributions both in-game and on Discord.
Forest Guides are Monkes who go above and beyond to support fellow players answering questions, escalating concerns, and helping keep our Discord channels running smoothly. Whether they’re guiding newcomers, explaining game modes, or fostering a positive environment, Forest Guides play a key role in making Gorilla Tag a better place for everyone.

We will introduce a new team of paid moderators soon who are excited to provide 24/7 moderation and support. This team will allow us to maintain a safe and welcoming environment, ensuring our community thrives at all hours. We’re working with Arise® and GGWP to expand our moderation tools and to improve the experience of our players and community.
Last but not least are changes to the Creator Troop! We’ve gotten feedback that the Creator Troop application process is confusing and frustrating– we hear you. We’re bringing more clarity and structure to the application process where Gorilla Tag team members will work closely with you as you’re considered and your content grows. We’re ramping up efforts to invite even more talented creators to the Troop and make Gorilla Tag the ultimate content creator space.
Additionally, all Creator Troop members now have the opportunity to receive a Creator Code! When players buy Shiny Rocks, they will have the option to enter a Creator Code of their choice to show some love and support their favorite Gorilla Tag creators.
If you’re not in the Troop, don’t sweat it! Creator Code general applications will open to all Gorilla Tag content creators on February 8.
